Psalm 97:6     The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.
The truth of this statement, declared by the Creator through the Psalmist 3,000 years ago, is reinforced by King David in Psalm 19:1-3 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”

At that time, all that was available to them was the naked eye.  A thousand years later, with not much more available to him, the Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, could declare with confidence: ”The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20).

If all this applied to people who only had the naked eye to make observation, how much more does it apply in our own day with all the amazing scientific tools we have at our disposal!  I recently sat through the presentation at the Planetarium at the University of Wollongong Science Space, and the advances that have been made in probing the ‘deep space’ of the Universe since I was at school are mind-boggling.

I really feel for people who have access to all this experimental science, and who still choose to ‘suppress the truth’ and deny the existence of the Creator.  As they stand before him on the Day of Judgement, and the truth becomes obvious to them, they will have nothing to say in their defence.  The same situation applies to all who choose to deny the historical truth about Jesus.  As Paul said to the Greek philosophers in Athens: “For [God] has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:31).
