Southern Presbyterian Church – Hobart Congregation Tasmania, Australia
Seeking a Pastor / Interim Pulpit Supply
Who we are
The Hobart congregation of the Southern Presbyterian Church of Australia meets at 9 Timsbury Road, Glenorchy, Tasmania, with worship services each Lord’s Day at 10:30 am and 4:00 pm.
We are a small, close-knit Reformed Presbyterian church, committed to the Word of God as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, using the Authorised Version in worship, singing the Psalms of Scripture, and adhering to the Westminster Confession of Faith as our subordinate standard.
What we are seeking
With the recent departure of our minister, Rev David Lachman (who has accepted a call to Melbourne with the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia), we are prayerfully seeking:
An ordained minister of the Gospel, called of God, to serve as pastor; or
In the interim, short-term pulpit supply, which may be from a pastor willing to share their holiday with God’s people in Tasmania or wishing to explore a longer-term call.
The immediate focus will be preaching and pastoral care, nurturing a congregation eager to continue in faithful Reformed worship and witness.
For an ongoing appointment, the minister would need to:
Subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith
Hold to the doctrines of sovereign particular grace
Adhere to the Regulative Principle of Worship
Be willing to minister within these distinctives in preaching and teaching
Who is the SPC?
The Southern Presbyterian Church is a small denomination with congregations in Hobart and Launceston in the island state of Tasmania, Australia. We are seeking to glorify God through faithful preaching, worship, and pastoral care in the heritage of the Protestant Reformation.
We uphold the historic Presbyterian form of government and practice, seeking to remain steadfast in Biblical truth in a changing world.

How does the local church meaningfully engage in overseas mission? In this episode AP talks to Ross Pethybridge about how his congregation engages with this Biblical challenge. There's no greater joy than being involved in what Jesus is doing in the world, and thankfully He delights in using especially those who are weak in this world to display His divine strength.
