In this latest interview I talk with the teaching elder from North Geelong Presbyterian Church, Darren Middleton, who discusses his own conversion to Christ, then in turning leading his parents to saving faith, as well as the joys and challenges of pastoring a church today.
Having come from multiple generations of atheists, Darren says that the first Christian he ever met was a young woman at work who gave him a Bible with the challenge not to reject it until he had first investigated what it said. A couple of months later, he opened the Bible and said he couldn’t stop reading. Incredibly, Darren’s unbelieving mother came in to the room that day and as a ‘joke’ took a photo of what he was doing. She thought that his father would scoff and laugh. The picture is included—with Darren’s permission—below:

Like all Christian testimonies, Darren’s story is a wonderful demonstration of God’s grace. Of replacing a cold heart of stone, and graciously giving him a heart of flesh (Ezek. 36:26). In His infinite mercy, after many years and much prayer, the LORD also brought Darren’s mother and father to Himself.
Darren also discusses the necessity of having godly elders and deacons, and why that is so crucial for the functioning of the church.
This makes for a fascinating and wide ranging interview. So grab yourself a cup of tea or coffee and be prepared to be blown away by what the LORD can—and does—do. You can also listen to the interview on Spotify below:
